LABUAN: Labuan Women’s Affairs Association Chief Fauziah Datuk Din feels the return of Labuan to Sabah is a “big matter” and that it is only fair that local folks are consulted before a decision is made.
Fauziah said when Labuan was federalised 38 years ago there was opposition from activists and USNO but whether these sentiments still exist is unknown in view of a new generation of adults on the island.

The best solution is to hold a referendum which was never held when the island was handed over to federal in 1984 by then Sabah Chief Minister Tan Sri Harris Salleh.
She said a referendum would produce the true picture on what local folks want.
