Bersatu Supreme Council, division elections postponed up to 18 months
Bersatu secretary-general Hamzah Zainudin says the postponement does not apply to elections at party branches.
PETALING JAYA: Elections for Bersatu’s Supreme Council and party divisions have been postponed for up to 18 months, party secretary-general Hamzah Zainudin said.

In a statement today, Hamzah said the Supreme Council agreed to the postponement at a meeting last night.

However, he said the postponement does not apply to elections at party branches.

Elections for Bersatu’s branches, divisions and the Supreme Council were previously slated to be held between July 1 and Oct 21.

Hamzah also said the party was fully prepared to face the coming elections in six states, adding that Bersatu’s machinery had been “streamlined”.

“Bersatu and Perikatan Nasional are confident of winning big in the coming elections by defending Kelantan, Terengganu and Kedah, and will work hard to capture Selangor, Negeri Sembilan and Penang,” he said.

The six states are set to hold elections after July.
