RANAU: Four people cheated death when the vehicle they were traveling in skidded and overturned in a ditch near here on Wednesday.

Head of BBP Ranau Station, PPgB Ridwan Bin Mohd Taib, said the incident happened at Jalan Tambunan-Ranau near Kg Tungou, at 11.54am.

“A call was received through the Station Line about the incident and six personnel led by the Operations Commander, PBK II Mastin Bin Suli rushed to the location.

“Arriving at the scene 25 km from the station, we found that there was an accident involving a Proton Iris which overturned on the shoulder of the road.

“There were four victims and three of them were injured. The injured victims were sent by the public to the hospital before the fire brigade arrived while the other one was unharmed,” he said.

According to Ridwan, the action of the Fire Brigade was to make an inspection to ensure that there was no other danger at the scene of the incident before the operation was terminated at 12.49pm.

Meanwhile, he called on all motorists to be extra careful when driving across the district, especially on narrow and bending village roads.

“People are asked to be more careful when driving in rainy weather conditions as well as damaged or under-repaired roads,” he said.
