Muis to sue over claims
“Muis will take legal action against the parties who have made and spread the accusations,” said Yahya.
Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Islamic Religious Council (Muis) has denied allegations of abuse of power in its administration spread on several websites and social media.

“Muis will take legal action against the parties who have made and spread the accusations,” Muis head Datuk Seri Yahya Hussin said in a statement, Thursday.

He said the accusations, among other things, claimed that its Chief Executive Officer has made several directives to pay bonuses to Muis staff from the Zakat Fund without approval.

He said it was also alleged that the Chief Executive Officer of Muis had ordered the transfer of Zakat Fund money to the General Fund (Management) amounting to RM14 million without approval.

“Muis insists that the accusations are baseless and are defamatory made with malicious intent to bring down the reputation of Muis and its administration.”
