KOTA KINABALU: Players and spectators going for the final round of the upcoming Immortals Cup next month can expect to be impressed by the interior design of the venue.

Many might have never seen how a premier e-sports event venue looks like but come March 2 and 3 at Kompleks Karamunsing Exhibition Hall, here, they will be in for a treat.

The event venue will be set up by the Band of Gorilla where the stage will be transformed into a vibrant, vivid, and atmospheric arena in theme with Dota 2.

Finalists can expect to play in a custom-designed booth designed and built in-house by the Band of Gorilla, inspired from high-tier e-sports tournament witnessed around the world.

This was disclosed during a courtesy call between Immortals Cup Organising Chairman cum Sabah Publishing House Deputy General Manager Lawrence Yeh and the Band of Gorilla which comprises Gorilla Productions and Gorilla Strategist at their office, here,  Friday.

The masterminds behind the Band of Gorilla comprises Managing Director Ian Yong, Art and Marketing Director Haieqal Lee, and Business Development & Operation Director Syahfique Eizwan and will have their hands on deck during the development of the stage.

Meanwhile, Enigma Entertainment at Damai has optimised and primed their computers as well as systems for an efficient and smooth preliminary round from 10am onwards this Saturday.

During the preliminaries, its directors Brian Joseph Kurup and Chiew Yen Leong said 135 computers would be potentially utilised simultaneously with a possibility of witnessing 18 teams battling in a period of time.

Spare computers along with trained and professional technicians would be standby at all times in case of a technical difficulty.

About 10 marshals are set to be on duty as well to ensure clean and fair games played throughout the preliminaries.

The Immortals Cup, Sabah’s first premium DOTA 2 tournament, with a total prize pool of RM22,000, aims to help set the stage for Sabah to be a force in the emerging billion dollar industry.

The preliminaries will be held at Enigma Entertainment Damai Plaza on Feb 23 and 24. The top four teams will compete in the finals to be held at Karamunsing Complex Exhibition Hall on March 2 and 3. - Locksley Ng
