Funds okayed for SMK Entabuan school hall and field pavilion
TENOM: Infrastructure Development Minister Datuk Peter Anthony has approved the allocation for the construction a hall and a field pavilion for SMK Entabuan.

He said the allocation was to meet the needs of the students who had long needed the facilities.

“The financial need of the school to build the hall, which costs about RM190,000 and RM136,000 for the field pavilion has been approved for SMK Entabuan,”

He said this during the Majlis Hari Koperasi and Hot Happiness Carnival at SMK Entabuan, here, Saturday.

Peter who is also Melalap Assemblyman said the Government is very considerate of school development needs, therefore the facilities for teachers, students and parents are prioritised, so that education can be moved forward. Regarding the carnival, Peter said the world of entrepreneurship needs to be explored and pursued in order to be successful in life, as it drives economic stability and is a legitimate career.

“In line with the Malaysian Education Development Plan, the Ministry of Education aims to provide equal access to all Malaysians in terms of quality education to create highly skilled, knowledgeable and united Malaysians.

“In this regard, students can open their eyes and minds to the entrepreneurial world, for example engaging in selling during Hari Koperasi that provides them with business opportunities.

“In the current globalisation boom, Malaysia needs to do something to compete with other countries, especially in the education system because it is through education that a meaningful success is birthed for the country,” he said.

Peter highlighted the Education Ministry’s 21st Century Learning (PAK21) initiative, which is line with the current world scenario.

“PAK21 is a centralised learning process to the student, which emphasises several elements, including communication, collaboration, critical thinking, creativity and application values and ethics.

“”Therefore, the Hari Koperasi and Hots Happiness Carnival joint program serves as a best platform for giving the opportunity for students to share information with parents regarding 21st Century learning,” he explained.

In conjunction with the 3-day Carnival program, the Department of Environment (DOE) also organised an environmental campaign with a “Say No To Single Use Plastic” program and sports activities, attended by 1500 individuals.

Earlier, in a speech by SMK Entabuan Principal Sunthararajoo Rengasamy, he said the 3-day Hots program meant high-level thinking skills with emphasis on cooperation and collaboration, among others.

Meanwhile, 150 students received a total of RM 20,000 in tuition funding for the 2020 school term through the management of school cooperatives, donated by Top Ultimate Sdn Bhd.
