QSR Brands pay RM10m in zakat
KENINGAU: QSR Brands (M) Holding Berhad paid RM10 mil in zakat throughout the country last year. This was revealed by its Shariah and Halal Compliance Department Advisor Mohd Roslan Mohd Saludin, here.

He said in Sabah the company paid zakat RM617,000  through the Sabah Islamic Religious Council (Muis), the highest last year.

“The handing over of zakat is not the first time but we have done it several years ago. This is proof that we are grateful for the generosity gained from the support of the Sabah people in our business,” he said after handing over QSR Brands business zakat amounting RM617,000 to Muis at a Juta hotel here on Wednesday.

Muis President Datuk Seri Hasbullah Mohd Taha received the Zakat presented by Roslan.

Roslan noted that besides KFC, QSR Brand owns brands like Pizza Hut, Ayamas and Life sauce.

He said consumers know that the money contributed by the purchase is actually shared by the company with asnaf in Sabah through the zakat paid to Muis.

“Hopefully this distribution gives them a little bit of confidence in the face of the school season they will face next year.

“The programme has been held for the fourth time since 2014. This year we have given RM617,000 which is a lot and I felt it is difficult for us to earn if we do not have multi-national companies.

“If a good corporate citizens, then the prestige of the property that comes from the business can be shared with the community because it is the commitment of the QSR Brands company that we not only want to have a nice fun but also appreciate the support given to the company by the community especially as we speak today, we talk of the support from the people of Sabah, “he said

He said if Sabahans supported the company’s brand, the company would double its zakat contribution.

Meanwhile, Hasbullah said the distribution of zakat by the QSR Group to asnaf in Sabah through Muis was a sign that the company was aware of its responsibility as a credible company.

“I hope that in the future the business of this company will improve, become more viable and open more of its branches not only in Keningau but throughout Sabah,” he said.
