TAWAU: A man was found dead in a naked state outside a fast food restaurant in Jalan Apas, Batu 5, here, on Sunday.
Tawau District Police Chief ACP Jasmin Hussin said the victim, whose identity has yet to be identified, was suspected of having an unsound mind.
Police were initially informed about the incident at 12.17pm.
Investigations are currently underway to determine whether the man accidentally fell from a building or intentionally jumped in an act of suicide, as there were witnesses.
The grim discovery was made a Rela (People’s Volunteer Corps) member who was on duty at the premises.
Fearing that the individual would attempt to enter the restaurant, the Rela member promptly alerted the manager and secured the back door.
However, shortly after, a drive-through staff member informed the guard that a person had fallen near the drive-through counter area outside the building.
Upon inspection, the Rela member realised that the fallen individual was the same naked man previously seen in the vicinity. Paramedics who arrived at the scene pronounced the man dead.
