Kota Kinabalu: Sabah police will call up an Umno Youth exco member and controversial blogger popularly known as Papagomo and a group of men in their investigation into a scuffle involving both sides at the Kota Kinabalu International Airport, here, Sunday.

Papagomo (pictured), whose real name is Muhammad Azri Wan Deris, lodged a police report on the fracas at the Setapak police station, Kuala Lumpur, at 2.30am on Monday, said Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Omar Mammah.

“The report pertains to an incident where he [Papagomo] was attacked by a group of men at the Kota Kinabalu International Airport on Jan 19,” said Omar in a statement.

“Police will investigate the case under Section 147 of the Penal Code and call up both sides in the incident which was captured in videos viral on social media.

“We urge witnesses to the incident to come forward when called up. Police are taking this incident seriously and will expedite the investigation before the case is referred to the Attorney-General for further instructions.”

A six-minute-plus video clip viral on Facebook shows the group of men expressing anger during the ruckus over Papagomo’s alleged insult of the Sabah Chief Minister in Kimanis, where BN/Umno's candidate won a by-election on Saturday.

Chairman of an NGO Datu Mohd Akjan Datu Ali Muhammad, who was at the scene, also lodged a police report on Sunday against Papagomo for his refusal to apologise for his alleged disrespect towards Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal, who is also President of Parti Warisan Sabah whose candidate lost in the Kimanis by-election.
