CHIEF Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said the Government gives priority to education to produce more competitive, skilled and high quality human capital in the state.

“We want to produce competitive human capital that can help make the Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) Development Plan agenda a success. “That is why, in addition to the main sectors of economic growth and recovery being focused on in the plan (SMJ), the Government also focuses on the second core of the plan, which is the development of human capital and the wellbeing of the people,” he said.

This, is achieve through awarding of scholarships such as the Sabah State Excellent Scholarship Award (ABCNS) and the Sabah State Government Scholarship (BKNS).

“Also this year, the State Government launched the Sabah State Education Fund (TPNS), one of which aims to provide special education assistance for Sabah children from the B40 group to continue their studies at higher learning institutions with an initial fund of RM54.5 million,” Hajiji said when officiating the 51st Teachers’ Day at Tuaran District Education Office level on July 28.

The Chief Minister said the State Government also introduced several incentive packages through the SMJ Direction Development Plan, to enable Sabah children to continue their schooling.

These included allocations amounting to RM24 million in 2021 such as the Higher Education Institution Assistance Program, the Computer Courtesy Assistance Program (Baik), the Special Examination Cash Assistance Program (Bakti) and the Registration Fund Assistance Program IPT (Budi).

“Incentive packages such as Baik, Bakti and Budi have also continued with added assistance initiatives amounting to RM35 million this year,” he said.

Hajiji was also interested in the ‘Sekolahku Sejahtera’ concept which applies values, ethics, spirituality and national identity to produce people who can contribute to the prosperity of the country, society, country and the global community in general.
