Trial of delivery rider adjourned to Aug 23

Kota Kinabalu: The trial of a delivery rider charged with raping an underaged girl, had been adjourned to Aug 23 this year.Sessions Court Judge Noor Hafizah Mohd Salim fixed the date for Ruhit Najh Nabas following an application by the prosecution.

The prosecution informed the court that the witness who was supposed to testify, is currently at the area where the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) is being implemented.
The court was further informed that EMCO at the area is scheduled to end on Aug 11 this year.
Ruhit is accused of raping the 15-year-old girl at 12.30am between August 2018 and January 2019 in a house in Penampang.
The offence under Section 376 of the Penal Code provides for a jail term of up to 20 years and whipping, on conviction.

Ruhit claimed trial to the charge against him on July 14, 2020 and the court offered RM10,000 bail to him with several conditions.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.
