“Discussions are ongoing with the State Government and we are choosing the best venue. Once everything is signed, we will publicise,” Chua (left) said.
Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Housing and Real Estate Developers Association (Shareda) President Datuk Sr Chua Soon Ping announced that two Chinese medical universities will be built in Sabah soon.

The first one, An Hui Chinese Medical University, is planned for Kota Kinabalu and the second, including an apothecary, was suggested for the east coast but deterred by the distance to the capital.

“Education is very good and they bring their families. This is tourism, not to compare with Sarawak, but Sabah cannot lose or we will be ashamed. We need to reinforce tourism.

“Discussions are ongoing with the State Government and we are choosing the best venue. Once everything is signed, we will publicise,” he told the press, on Monday.

Vice President Raymond Chan Yin Hong said classes would be in English and Chinese and an opportunity for Sabahans.

Chua meanwhile said the collaboration was to expand the local economy by combining medical education and tourism.

“Shareda will be allocating resources and integrating the Sabah Malaysia My Second Home scheme to upskill Sabahans and avoid brain drain.

“Our talents have been captured by Singapore, Brunei and elsewhere.

“One of the reasons is for our children to remain working in Sabah. But it’s a long process and will not happen overnight,” he said.
