Kota Kinabalu: Kinabalu International School said it was extremely proud to announce another excellent set of results for its Year 11 and 13 cohorts who sat for their IGCSE and A Level examinations in May and June.

Announcing the best set of results since the A Level programme at KIS began nine years ago, said principal Dr Ian Gross, who added that 70pc of students were awarded A*/A grades, 86pc achieved A*/ B with 95pc gaining A* to C grades.

There was a 100pc pass rate at IGCSE and A Level.

In the IGCSE examinations, 92pc students were awarded the top grades of A* to C with 63pc scoring either A* or A, another improvement on last year’s results.

“With such excellent results, many students are staying on at KIS to pursue A Level courses in a wide range of subjects,” said Dr Gross.

He thanked all staff for the achievement and credited the students for their hard work over the difficult previous two years of study.

“The 2022 IGCSE and A Level cohorts will be remembered for their resilience and determination to succeed despite the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic where learning was disrupted and the community had to adapt to many changes.

“They’ve shown great resilience and dedication to get to this point, and I am proud of everyone’s achievements. We wish them further success as they progress to new opportunities and experiences, and I am confident they have the skills, knowledge and courage to succeed in every choice they make.”

He said KIS is proud that its recent graduates have been accepted to study a range of courses at degree level at top universities around the world, including Imperial College London, University of Melbourne, University of New South Wales, University of London Institute in Paris, University of the West of England, Bristol and Stanford University in the USA. Students will study a range of subjects including International Politics, Political Science, Law with Business, Business Management, Biomedical Engineering, Psychology, Aerospace Engineering, English Literature & Language, and Robotics.

Dr Gross said KIS proudly celebrates the outstanding success of their ‘straight A achievers’ who gained A/A* in all of their subjects at IGCSE Level: There were Yanjing Liu, Jia Min Tay, Benedict Wong, Clement Choo and Dylan Mansul.

Meanwhile at A Level, six students scored straight As with Korean Sang Hun Woo making it to the top of KIS honour board, gaining excellent results, with A* in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
