KENINGAU: Highly Intellectual Valiant Enthusiasts (HIVE), a registered teachers’ association based in Sabah, has organised an online master class focused on creative writing for selected teachers in Malaysia on January 4 this year.

HIVE is an association established in 2022 by several teachers who teach in secondary and primary schools in Malaysia to help improve the development of teacher professionalism through the opportunity to publish scholarly articles and online master classes.

This association was founded by Dr. Sirhajwan Idek, Auzella Kristin, Pravin Balakrishnan, Josephine Lai, Lim Lai Poh, Desmond Sandum and Intan Anak Engkasan.

The class was run by a lecturer from a university in India, Dr. Sharon Sunny (pic), who has more than 20 years of experience teaching English and literature.

He said that every scholarly article writer and participant in the programme they organised received a certificate of recognition from the Sabah Education Department and the Sabah Education Resources and Technology Sector.

“Master Class with Dr. Sharoon Sunny is limited to 30 teachers only and these participants have been selected from dozens of applications received from various types of schools in Malaysia.

Selected teachers in Malaysia who participated in the online master class focused on creative writing run by a lecturer from a university in India, Dr. Sharon.

“The participants practice writing stories in English based on a specific format that challenges their thinking,” he said.

Dr Sirhajwan said they all managed to produce a flash fiction themed on a specific place or object at the end of the master class.

He who was also Keningau Vocational College Head of Research and Innovation told that HIVE will implement another master class which will be conducted by a trainer from the United Kingdom in February.
