RANAU: A total of 38 primary school students from three schools here participated in the Intellectual Spiritual Care Program (KEM PINTAR 2.0) held at SJK (C) Pai Wen Ranau, recently.
The camp, organized by the National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) Ranau District in collaboration with the District Education Office (PPD) Ranau.
The three schools involved are SJK (C) Pai Wen Ranau, SK Pekan Ranau and SK St Benedict.
Among the contents of this 3-day 2-night programme are briefings from the AADK, Interactive Talks, group training, and exploration activities.
This KEM PINTAR 2.0 aims to provide knowledge to school students about the dangers of drug abuse in addition to strengthening the identity of the students involved in this programme.
Among the goals of the programme are to protect students from being involved in drug use and abuse; delay the addiction process among students who are detected / identified as being involved; and Conduct interventions for students who are involved so that they are free from drugs.
The objectives are to provide knowledge to participants about the effects and dangers of substance abuse, build life skills and resilience so as not to be involved in substance abuse, and so that students can practice the knowledge and skills learned.
The closing ceremony of KEM PINTAR 2.0 was officiated by Ranau District Education Officer, Barizah Binti Mohd Kahar.
In her speech, she hoped that this program would be beneficial to all the participants as it is an initial step in efforts to prevent drug abuse among students and create a healthy and safe school environment.
