PAPAR: Borneo Development Corporation (Sabah) Sdn Bhd (BDC), a government-linked company (GLC), has undertaken a new housing development project, Taman Seri Novoung, strategically located along the Pan-Borneo Highway, here.
Newly appointed BDC Chairman Datuk Johnny Mositun said the project comprises 127 units of double-storey terrace houses and two units of commercial shophouses, aimed at meeting the growing demand for good quality and affordable housing in the district.
He said Taman Seri Novoung is envisioned as a vibrant and family-friendly community that promotes comfort, convenience and sustainable living.
Its proximity to schools, hospitals, commercial centres, places of worship and government offices makes it an ideal choice for families and first-time homeowners.
“The project, which began at the end of 2024, is being developed in five phases comprising 127 double-storey terrace houses and two shoplots. It is targeted to be completed in 2028.
“Phase 1A, involving 20 housing units, is already between 70 and 80 per cent completed while Phase 2, which consists of 47 units, was launched in November last year, while Phase 3 will feature 42 larger homes with built-up areas of about 1,200 sq ft.

“After that, we will proceed with Phase 1B involving 18 units before the final phase, which includes two shoplots to be built later on,” Johnny told reporters after attending a briefing on the development of the project and a site visit of the project.
The project offers two housing types, with Type A units having a net built-up area of about 1,050 sq ft, while Type B units with approximately 1,200 sq ft.
Besides having three bedrooms and three bathrooms in each unit, there are security features, including auto-gate system, reinforced steel security door at the kitchen, aluminium sliding windows and covered car porch.
“The project reflects BDC’s continued commitment towards supporting the State Government’s agenda in enhancing home ownership opportunities and driving balanced socio-economic growth across the State.
“The development is expected to contribute positively to the local economy by creating employment opportunities and stimulating business activities in surrounding areas,” he said.
“I think this is the right time for BDC to invest in Papar, especially around the Benoni growth area. This is a new development direction for BDC in Papar,” he said.
On concerns over persistent water shortages in Papar and its possible impact on future projects and homebuyers, Johnny acknowledged that supply issues had existed for some time due to rising demand.
However, ongoing infrastructure works are expected to ease the problem.
“The water intake project and upgrading of water treatment plant in Kabang and Kogopon, respectively, are expected to be completed this year,” he said.
Also present were members of BDC’s Board of Directors, senior management officers and the project implementation team, including its consultants, engineers and contractors.
