Usim first public varsity listed on Apple iTunes U

Negeri Sembilan: The Global Open Access Learning Centre (Goal Centre) in Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (Usim) has become the first public university to be listed in the Apple iTunes U platform. Apple iTunes U is the largest catalogue for free learning material from around the world.It also allows for free and unlimited registration of programs or courses.

With its concept of internet learning, material which had been uploaded into Apple devices could be accessed offline, in line with the objective of increasing access to education. The collaboration between Usim and Apple Education (M) began at the end of 2014, while early efforts to register Usim on the Apple iTunes platform were made in February 2015. In a statement issued here Friday, the director of the Goal Centre, Prof Dr Rozhan Mohammed Idrus said by the end of June, iTunes U Usim had uploaded 12 videos in seven categories.He said the next move would be to put up three Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC) Usim on the iTunes U platform by the end of this year.

"Work on the iBook will begin by 2016 with the cooperation of the faculties in Usim. With its listing on the platform, all content that we put on it could be used for course and programme sharing online by iTunes U users throughout the world free of charge."He added that the Goal Centre welcomed any beneficial materials to be shared globally on iTunes U.
