80 hulksters expected for Mr Merdeka

Kota Kinabalu: More than 80 up and coming bodybuilders from around Sabah are expected to compete in the Mr Merdeka Bodybuilding Competition in conjunction with the Merdeka celebration on September 19 and 20.The event which is jointly organised by Sabah Bodybuilding Association (SBBA) and Sabah Sport Council is open to novices and will be staged at Imago Shopping Mall here, which is also the main sponsor for the meet.

Prejudging is on September 19 from 10am to 5pm while the finale is scheduled on the next day from 2pm to 6pm where audiences are also to be entertained by performances from our local singers.

When contacted on Friday the organising secretary Joseph Sylvester said, they have received good response from would be participants from around the State.

The competition will be divided into four categories which are 60kg and below, 60.1 to 65kg, 65.1 to 70kg and above 70kg, and open to those who have yet to win any top three placing in any bodybuilding competition organised by SBBA.

Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Government continued its momentum in managing the economy in line with the commitment and spirit of the Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) when it posted record high state revenue of RM6.973 billion last year.

The winners in each category will receive RM300 each with medals, and stand a chance to win the grand prize of RM500 with trophy as the Champion of Champions. The first runner-up to fifth place winner will receive RM250, RM200, RM150 and RM100 respectively plus medals.
