Sabah intact under Musa: Hisham
Kota Kinabalu: The unity level in Umno Sabah under the leadership of Datuk Seri Musa Aman is very strong amid the current political landscape, said Umno Vice President Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein. He said he is pleased to report to the top party leadership that the unity in Umno Sabah is very intact.

"In the context of Sabah, I am pleased to report that the house in the party is quite an order (with less major issues to be addressed)…well there is no perfect households including my own.

"But basically for Sabah, I must admit, notwithstanding what we are going through in the present political landscape, Umno Sabah as well as Barisan Nasional (BN) Sabah are very united under the leadership of Datuk Seri Musa Aman as the Umno Sabah Liaison Chief and BN Sabah Chairman.

"I have also been talking to divisional chiefs in Sabah and delegations during my last three days here, I am happy to leave Sabah knowing that the house is in order but it should not be taken for granted," he said.

Hishammuddin said this to reporters after opening a delegation meeting of Umno Sepanggar at recital hall of Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) here on Sunday.

He also launched a website of Umno Sepanggar in the event attended by Umno Sepanggar acting chief Yakub Khan, his vice chief Zaitun binti Datuk Seri Mohd Kassim, division's Wanita chief Datuk Jainab Ahmad who is also Sabah Umno Wanita Vice Chief, its Youth Chief Ramlan Awal, its Puteri chief Fardilah Sarbi, Umno Tenom Divisional Chief Datuk Rubin Balang, Umno Kota Kinabalu chief Datuk Faisyal Diego, Umno Penampang Divisional Chief Datuk John Ambrose, Umno Papar Deputy Chief Datuk Ghulam Haidar Khan Bahadar and other officials.

Hishammuddin was commenting on his call to the party members in Sabah to put their house in order first before indulging into other matters.

Earlier in his speech, he said the delegations and grassroots are the main deciding factor for the rise and fall of the party.

"There are many current issues now that we are facing like the Goods and Services Tax (GST), the fluctuation prices of oil and the falling of our currency.

"But I feel it is important to put our house in order because if there were some internal issues that need to be addressed like not trusting each other and only looking into personal interest, then the party might not be respected by members and the people.

"That is why it is vital for us to rise and be united to defend the party, sincere in our struggle and be loyal to the party leadership.

"Make sure this sacred party would stay relevant to be inherited by our young and future generations like what had been done by our past leaders," he said.

Meanwhile, Umno Sepanggar acting chief Yakub Khan has highlighted in his speech the need for funding for development projects here to be immediately channelled to the party instead to local authorities here.

He said the division is a unique one as it is situated between urban and sub-urban areas with over 50 villages that also in need of basic amenities especially housing apart from electricity and water supply, as well as the need for upgrading the roads.

"Although Sepanggar is located near the urban areas, there are still areas that need basic development particularly housing.

"I am applying to Datuk Seri Hishammuddin to convey our suggestion to the top leadership so that funding for the people in Sepanggar to be channelled to the party here.

"This is because if the funding was to be channelled to a local authority, then we in Sepanggar would probably getting one-third of the funds as the policy of the local authority is to beautify the city using the government funds," he said.

Yakub said the people in Sepanggar are in need of houses for their wellbeing as squatter settlements are growing here due to ample jobs in the State Capital.

Hence, he called on the government allocate the funds to build more houses for the people in Sepanggar here and not to wait when election is around the corner to do so.
