Controversial victory for Suzairi in Labuan

Kota Kinabalu: Suzairi Igmah from the State Sukma squad won the 2015 Labuan Amateur Open golf Championship in controversial fashion on Sunday.The youngster shot a final round score of 78 to finish with a three-day total of 229, the same as Korean youngster Park Sang Ho.As the pair who were keeping score for each other in the final round prepared for a playoff, an error was discovered on Park's scorecard and he was subsequently disqualified from the tournament by the referee.

It was found that Park had on the 3rd hole, bogey it for a score of a five on the par 4 hole. Suzairi, though, wrote down four instead and when it was time to sign the scorecard to affirm the score, Park did so, without noticing Suzairi's error.Meanwhile, another Sukma player Fazley Chua who led on day two had a poor 81 in his final round to end with a 230 three-day total, one shot behind Suzairi in second place.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

Third place went to Safaruddin Abidin from Sandakan Golf and Country Club with 234 (83,75,76).

The ladies title was won by Sukma player Jacqueline Nickels with her three-day score of 241 (78,81,82) followed by two other Sukma players Chew I Youn with 256 (90,83,83) and Tham Soot Yuet (257-86,91,80).
