style="text-transform: uppercase;">Kuala Lumpur: The Attorney General's Chamber (AGC) has decided that no further action would be taken against 1Malaysia Development Bhd concerning Bank Negara's investigation into the company. In a statement to the press, Deputy Solicitor General 1, Tun Abd Majid Tun Hamzah who studied the central bank's investigation papers into the case, found that no offence was committed by 1MDB officials under paragraph (4)(b) of Part 1 of the Fifth Schedule to the Exchange Control Act 1953 namely, knowingly or recklessly making a statement which is false in a material particular.

Abd Majid also issued a directive that no further action should be taken against the state linked investment arm.

The statement also read that a letter requesting a review of the decision was shotdown as no new evidence was made available.

"In this respect, the AGC would like to state that what had been in the news between 12 September 2015 until today concerning the IP still being with AGC and that discussions were ongoing, is inaccurate and not true," added the AGC.

Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Government continued its momentum in managing the economy in line with the commitment and spirit of the Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) when it posted record high state revenue of RM6.973 billion last year.
The statement was issued in reference to a statement issued by the Keeper of the Rulers seal on behalf of the Malay rulers yesterday as well as a response to adverse and negative statements and comments against the AGC on the delay of the investigation related to 1MDB and a decision on the proceedings.

It also stated that "investigations conducted by the respective agencies were never at any time halted or hindered."

It further stated that the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) have not completed their investigations as some key witnesses' statements have yet to be recorded.

"The Attorney General has been constantly monitoring and giving instructions to the relevant agencies whenever the investigations were referred to the AGC, including instructions to expedite investigations," read the statement.

It earlier cited that the Task Force on investigations into 1MDB has never been dissolved or disbanded and the AGC has never made any statement to that effect.
