Bumi construction firms need to upgrade capabilities, services quality: Fadillah

Kuala Lumpur: Bumiputera companies in the construction industry need to elevate their capabilities and quality of services to greater heights, said Works Minister, Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.He said under the Eleventh Malaysia Plan (11MP), the government had outlined the Bumiputera empowerment plans that would benefit those in the construction and development industry, and urged them to understand the government's roadmap and policies in supporting the industry's progress."The Bumiputera Agenda Steering Unit (Teraju) continues its efforts to further empower and boost opportunities for High Performing Bumiputera Companies (Teras) through its 7th TeraS Networking Session held here.

At Monday's session, besides the Works Ministry, the wealth of information was also shared by prominent figures from Malaysian Resources Corporation Bhd, UEM Group Bhd, SPNB Edar Sdn Bhd, Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Corporation Sdn Bhd and Trans Resources Corporation Sdn Bhd.Some of the key areas discussed were the value chain in the construction sector for Bumiputera companies, the experience of a contractor in the MRT Line 1 project development as well as empowerment programmes and initiatives for Bumiputera companies. – Bernama
