PUNB approves RM2.26b loans from 1992 to until Aug

Melaka: Perbadanan Usahawan Nasional Bhd (PUNB) has approved RM2.26 billion in loans from 1992 to until August this year, said its Chairman, Tan Sri Mohd Ali Rustam.He said the loans were disbursed to 5,919 companies and businesses involving 8,526 Bumiputeras nationwide."Of the total, RM776.40 million were disbursed under Small and Medium Enterprise scheme; Prosper Retail Scheme (RM648.31 million); Wholesale Prosper Scheme (RM631.62 million); Prosper Teras Scheme (RM138.97 million); and Prosper Young Entrepreneur Scheme (RM65.27 million)," he said.

Mohd Ali said this after officiating the Aurora Galery Enterprise office here Monday. Also present was PUNB Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Dzulkifli Fadzilah.He said PUNB not only distributed the loans, it also shouldered a big responsibility to realise the government's thrust to produce Bumiputera entrepreneurs with the competitive edge to compete in the retail and distribution sectors. Mohd Ali said PUNB has approved RM148.79 million in loans for the first eight months of this year to 388 companies and enterprises nationwide. Meanwhile, Dzulkifli advised entrepreneurs under PUNB to take the necessary measures to face the present unfavourable economic conditions.

"We encourage the entrepreneurs to discuss and set up business network which not function as an avenue to exchange ideas and share experiences, especially from those who have face the economic crises in the 1990s," he said.He said PUNB always studied the current economic condition and was prepared to reschedule the loan repayments of entrepreneurs facing difficulties. – Bernama
