Builders glad Pan Borneo Highway spared

Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Builders Association is glad that the Pan Borneo Highway project has not been affected by the 2016 Budget revision.Its President Cheong Kwee Min said the revised budget has not affected the project at all as there is no cut in the provision for construction works. "I am grateful that all the project grants are not affected and this is good for the development side," he said during the Chinese New Year charity visit to the Bukit Harapan home for special children, here, Saturday.

According to Cheong, the revised budget is acceptable in that the Government had taken effective steps to address the current market situation.He said the Government was doing something that may not suit everybody and make them happy but it is trying its best to adjust to the present situation.Meanwhile, Cheong said the association held the charity visit annually before the Chinese New Year celebration and for this year, they visited three homes, namely Bukit Harapan, Sabah Cheshire Home, Likas and Sri Prichard Old Folk Home, Kinarut."This has become our tradition, that we must visit these less fortunate and we will continue this programme as it is a part of our social obligation," he said.

During the visit, the association also brought some daily necessities to the home and distributed ang pow to the residents.Also present during the visit were the members of the association and Bukit Harapan administrator Audra Keyworth.

In another development, Cheong informed that the association will hold its Chinese New Year celebration on Feb 20 from 7pm at its premises in Penampang.He invited all members to bring their relatives to the celebration.
