Pakistani jailed for using fake particulars on Entry Visa

Kota Kinabalu: A Pakistani was on Monday sentenced to 18 months' jail for using a Multiple Entry Visa with fake particulars on his marital status.Ahmad Hussain pleaded guilty before Sessions Court Judge Abu Bakar Manaf to using the document issued by the Lahad Datu immigration office on May 6, 2015 at the Labuan Immigration Department.On Ahmad's visa, the false information was in regard to his so-called wife, one Jenalisa Abdu Rasad.

The offence under Section 471 of the Penal Code punishable under Section 465 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to two years or fine, or both, on conviction.Abu ordered Ahmad referred to the Immigration Department after completing his jail sentence.Counsel P. J Perira who represented Ahmad asked for lenient sentence and the jail sentence be served from the date of his arrest.Perira also asked for Ahmad to be referred to the Immigration Department in Labuan for deportation.

Meanwhile, Prosecuting Officer Awang Shamsul Baharom from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) urged the court to hand down a deterrent sentence submitting that the offence was serious.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

He added that Ahmad was arrested when he tried to renew his passport but could not do so as his name was blacklisted by the Immigration Department following a request from MACC during the Ops Pakis last year.

Awang also informed the court that several Pakistani nationals had been brought to court and sentenced accordingly for similar offences.
