Girl, 9, gets gift from PM, wife

Kota Kinabalu: Nine-year-old Sarra Jojo Salter waited for a good two hours just to give Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak a welcoming card and was thrilled to receive a nice gift in return from him and his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor.The Sekolah Kebangsaan Sri Gaya pupil had heard that the Prime Minister and his wife will be coming to stay at Sutera Harbour Resort after launching the Pan Borneo Highway project on Sunday. Feeling excited, she went and enquired when they were arriving after which she immediately made a welcoming card for them.

Sarra, whose mother is a Sabahan, patiently waited for about two hours until 11.45pm when Najib and Rosmah, arrived. According to her grandfather, Stephen Salter, she quickly ran to the elevator and waited so she could get close to the Prime Minister. "There was so much pushing and shoving going on but Sarra managed to get in the front line. Security tried to stop her but the Prime Minister said he would like to talk with her. He asked her name and age. Then she presented her hand-made card to him and shook his hand," he told the Daily Express.The card read, "Welcome Prime Minister" with pictures of hearts. Inside she drew a picture of the Malaysian flag with words "Malaysia Sabah, and Sutera Harbour", and a picture of the rafflesia flower along with the words.

On the back of the card, she wrote, "from Sarah and Sasha for Prime Minister and wife".If that brief moment had made her feel happy and excited, she was about to get the biggest surprise of her life the next day.
