Upko Kaamatan joy tomorrow

Kota Kinabalu: The public is invited to the Upko Kaamatan 2016 celebration which will be officiated by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman at Kota Belud Sports Complex on Saturday.The two-day event will kick-off with a Sodop Rombituon on Friday night followed by the proper Kaamatan celebration starting from 8am onwards.The day will be filled with various cultural performances and merrymaking such as bamboo musical presentations, dancing performances from various ethnic groups, traditional food and songs that are specially composed for the day.

Among other highlights include singing performances by well-known Kadazandusun singers such as Clarice John Matta, Felix Agus and John Samud and of course, the Unduk Ngadau Upko 2016 whose participants, about 30 of them, are expected to make their first appearance at around 1.30pm."Culture is an important element for any civilisation. So let us come together as we celebrate this day which we have inherited from our ancestors," said the event's host, Upko Komulakan Chief and Upko Kota Belud Chief Ewon Benedick.
