RM200mil allocation to empower youth,says CM

Sandakan: The State and Federal governments have always been concerned over youth interest and development in the country. As proof for the commitment, the Sabah State Government has allocated more than RM200 million to various ministries, departments and agencies through its State Budget 2016 to empower youth development programmes. Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman (pic) said the amount included the RM90 million allocation to the State Youth and Sports Ministry for various youth and sports development programmes in Sabah.

"This is in line with (our) efforts to produce excellent human capital, highly-skilled and capable to drive the state development in various sectors," he said after launching the State-level Youth Day celebration at Padang Bandaran Sandakan, here, Saturday.Also present was Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Tawfiq Abu Bakar Titingan.He said the efforts to solidify the youth are an ongoing process which need to be galvanised coherently.Musa said for that, the Government would remain committed to diversify opportunities and its comprehensive development policy in ensuring the youth's success.

He also said as the leaders of tomorrow and hope for the future, the youth needs to have leadership and self-esteem. Meanwhile, eighteen individuals and associations received awards in conjunction with Sabah Youth Day celebration.

They consist of five recipients of youth journalism awards.The Golden Youth Award was given to three recipients; Mary Jim, Sahrah Ansor and Suhana Sulaiman.Other winners were Herman Tamrin (Business Potential Award), Patang Saharing (Creative and Innovative), Eliana Melainie Maidin (Unity) and Aznan Marjan (Excellence).All of them received a trophy and RM3,000 each.The Meritorious Service Award went to Jamal Jinal, while the Sabah Minister of Youth and Sports Special Award went to Datuk Juhari Janan.They received a trophy and RM5,000 each.The National Youth Premier Awards were given to Mohd Zikri Zainuddin (Men) and Shali Shebli (Women), with each receiving a trophy and RM3,000.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

The Premier Award for National Youth Organisation went to Junior Chamber International Kota Kinabalu, which won a trophy and RM10,000.Kudat Volunteer Youth Organisation was the runner-up and went home with a trophy and RM7,000.
