Award inspires Permata: Rosmah

ISTANBUL: Being named the winner of the '3G Children Welfare Award' has not only given Permata a boost at the international level, but also raised the spirit of agencies and individuals responsible in making the programme a success.Permata patron, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor said it would motivate them to further improve the programme, as well as do more in promoting the development of children and to nurture their talents."I think this is something or a phenomena where this award can inspire us to work harder and think of a new sector or programme for children in Malaysia," she said when met after the Global Good Governance Awards 2016 here Thursday.

The prime minister's wife also hoped that implementation of the Permata programmes would help to reduce social problems in the country.She thanked all those involved for their cooperation in making Permata a success that it had been recognised internationally."I have been made to understand that they (international organisation) are keen to share our success story. We appreciate and will extend all the necessary assistance," she said.

On Permata being used as a model in other countries, Rosmah said she gathered the information from experts she met during her visits abroad.She said that from feedback received, all countries should have a programme like Permata, where attention should not be given only to children's welfare, but also their mental development, where their talent should be developed at a young age.

The 3G Children Welfare Award was presented to Rosmah by Dr Sheikha Aisha Faleh Al-Thani, who is the founder of the Al-Faleh Group.Earlier, in her speech, Rosmah dedicated a special thank you to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak for his encouragement and belief that children are national treasures who need to be nurtured and educated with care, attention and love as soon as they are born.She said the Permata programme was also in line with Najib's policy of innovative human capital development.Meanwhile, Malaysia also received four more awards from a total of 24 presented during the ceremony.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.
