style="text-transform: uppercase;">Kuala Lumpur: The Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) has warned the public to be wary of get-rich-quick schemes which were being promoted under the guise of bond investments. In a statement Tuesday, the SC said sometimes the offerings were purportedly linked to foreign bonds, masquerading to feign legitimate schemes.

"The schemes entice investors with guaranteed high returns or profits as high as 40 per cent with little or no risk to them.

"If a scheme is said to originate from overseas, investors should verify its legitimacy," SC said.

The SC said under the law, bond offerings to the Malaysian public need to have its approval.

To ensure whether a bond has been approved, investors should check with the SC's website at www.sc.com.my or contact SC at 03-62048999 or email to [email protected]. – Bernama
