Kota Baru: It is not possible for PAS to sit at the same table and cooperate with DAP and Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) in Pakatan Harapan as it is chary from past experience.PAS Vice-President Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah, who is also Kelantan Deputy Menteri Besar, said the party's stand as of now was not to have any cooperation with PAS and Amanah as it was focusing on empowering the third opposition block.

"We have experienced working with DAP. So, it may be difficult for us to repeat the cooperation. We will not discuss our stand thus far with Amanah and DAP.

"We still have ties with Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), it's still not severed.

"We are endeavouring to strengthen the third block (with Parti Ikatan Bangsa Malaysia). Perhaps it will take a little bit of time," he told reporters at a breaking-of-fast with Kelantan media practitioners, here.

He was asked to comment on the suggestion by PKR deputy president, Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, who is also Selangor Menteri Besar, that PAS returned to the fold under Pakatan Harapan to face Barisan Nasional (BN) in the 14th general election.

Meanwhile, in GEORGE TOWN, weaknesses in Pakatan Harapan resulted in the opposition's defeat in the recent Sungai Besar and Kuala Kangsar parliamentary seat by-elections, said DAP Secretary-General Lim Guan Eng.

He admitted that Barisan Nasional (BN) had its own strengths, especially its election machinery.

"We accept the by-election results with an open heart as this is the people's decision and we respect it," Lim said at a press conference Wednesday.

However, he believed that Pakatan Harapan was not demoralised with the results and would rise again in facing the next general election.

Lim said DAP was ready to face the 14th general election (GE14) if Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak decided to hold a snap election.

On Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali's suggestion for all the opposition parties to meet and discuss the strategies in facing GE14, Lim said he would discuss the matter with him.

BN candidate Datin Mastura Mohd Yazid won in the Kuala Kangsar by-election with a 6,969-vote majority, while its other candidate Budiman Mohd Zohdi won in Sungai Besar with a 9,191-vote majority. – Bernama
