Honda M'sia recalls 147,894 vehicles

Kuala Lumpur: Honda Malaysia Thursday announced that it is extending its proactive measure to ensure customer safety by recalling 147,894 units of Honda vehicles to replace the front passenger airbag inflator."The replacement works will be carried out once the parts are ready. Parts and labour charges related to this recall will be borne by Honda Malaysia," said Honda Malaysia in a statement Thursday.

It said the vehicle models involved in this recall are the Accord, with the years of manufacture of between 2003-2011, City (2009-2011), Civic (2007-2011), CR-V (2008-2011), Freed (2009-2011), Insight (2011), Jazz (2009-2011) and Odyssey (2004-2008).

Of the affected Vehicles, the Accord accounted for 46,832 units, City 52,345, Civic 23,701, CR-V 15,938, Freed 2,582, Insight 5,053, Jazz 899 and Odyssey 544.

Honda Malaysia has assured customers that safety is the company's priority and regrets the inconvenience caused.

However, it reiterated that all of its current selling models are not affected.

All affected customers will be informed via a notification letter, which will include details of the recall.

Those receiving the notification are advised to bring the letter and their vehicles to the nearest authorised Honda dealer for inspection.
