Kota Kinabalu: Host country Malaysia will showcase Anak Seni Asia at the 11 Sabah International Folklore Festival. But traditionally, the host country does not contest in the Folkdance Competition.

Anak Seni Asia is a non- government organisation (NGO) under international organisation folk art (IOV) Malaysia, led by Amandus Paul Panan.

A Malaysian troupe with a difference, it has one mission: To protect, preserve and promote all forms of folk art and folk culture as element of the intangible cultural heritage to help IOV foster understanding and appreciation of cultural diversity among all peoples, thereby enhance world peace.

An interesting fact most Sabahans won't know – IOV was founded in Belgium in 1979 and is registered under the law of Austria where the office of IOV secretariat is located.

Which inspired the founding of Anak Seni Asia in 2001 and registered with IOV in 2016, recommended by Madam Carmen D. Paddila – President of IOV – during a meeting in Weifang, China in April 2016.

Anak Seni Asia encourages and promote the living folk traditions through the advancement of all forms of folk arts, including dances.

The members of Anak Seni Asia consist of people from various fields of folk arts from all over Malaysia.
