Labuan police destroy RM300,000 worth of gaming machines

Labuan: Labuan police destroyed 22 slot machines and 394 computers used for illegal gambling activities worth of RM359,200 at the Labuan District Police Headquarters compound here on Tuesday. Labuan Police Chief Supt Adzhar Othman said the slot machines and the modified computers were confiscated between 2007 and 2014.

"During the period, we made 57 arrests under Section 4B (a) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1952, comprising 34 men and 21 women who were the gambling dens' caretakers, aged between 15 and 57.

"Also arrested were 157 of their customers," he said in a statement Thursday.

Adzhar said they had completed 35 investigation papers and six of the cases had been charged and convicted in court.

"We will continue to monitor the activities," he said.
