Penampang: The Sabah Cultural Centre, here, reverberated to bursts of cheer from a big crowd at the Prime Show of the 11th Sabah International Folkdance Competition, Thursday night. Tomorrow night (30 July) is the last chance to see probably the epic display of their best because it is the finals where the 11 troupes would unleash their winning secrets. South Korea, Australia, Ireland, Estonia, Russia (represented by the Republic of Sakha Yakutia), India, Sri Lanka, Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand all shone in their unique ways befitting the festival's theme "Peace Through Culture".

Ireland's Gaelic Girls Irish Dancing Troupe brought their unique five-piece folk band – which in itself is an extra treat to the occasion. Siberia is famous for its extreme freezing temperature which can dip minus 40 degree Celsius.
Representing Russia, the Republic of Sakha Yakutia prefaced their show with a stunning slide show of life as minority ethnic Yakuts in the Land of Permafrost that permanently freezes what they call their Ancient Land of Olonhho.
