Kota Kinabatangan: Kinabatangan MP Datuk Bung Moktar Radin said former Umno vice president Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal forming a new party is not a hindrance for a democratic country and wished him all the best. Bung said the important thing is for Umno members to continue to be focused on the party and that even though there has been announcements of many members stepping out of the party, it is still unclear if they are really Umno members. He also said the creation of a new state seat in the Kinabatangan Parliamentary constituency is a good development, especially in developing the constituency which is as big as Pahang.

"Hopefully, the additional state constituency, known as Bukit Garam, will give wider focus on each area in the district," he said. On the IS, he advised people not to be easily influenced by the Islamic State (IS) or Daesh ideology which has now infiltrated the nation. He noted that civil servants have also been swayed by the ideology spread by the group. "Do not be easily involved with their ideology because it is not something good," he said.
