Tawau: The Higher Education Ministry is to set up a tourism studies centre in Sabah next year, said Minister Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh (pic). He said the centre, to be known as the Kota Kinabalu Tourism Academy, would offer diploma and certificate programmes of study. The academy, to be established at a cost of between RM30 million and RM40 million, would be able to cater for a maximum of 400 students at any one time, he said.

"Plans to set up the centre are in the final stage of discussion. Students of the academy do not have to worry about jobs as the tourism sector in Sabah is huge," he said to reporters after opening the culinary arts building of the Tawau Community College here, Thursday. Idris said 97 per cent of community college graduates were gainfully employed. The country has 93 community colleges and 34 polytechnics, he added.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.
