Beauties and Z Beast emerge top at X45 Challenge

Kota Kinabalu: Team Beauties and Z Beast from Primal Ape CrossFit took the top spot in the fiercely contested Team Open division of the recently concluded X45 Challenge.The winning team comprised of Grech N. Go, Trever Love and Zoe Pond-McPherson. They were followed closely by ThracX45 – Howard Lee (X45/CrossFit Kinabalu), Sharifah Inani Najwa (X45/CrossFit Kinabalu) and Abdul Aziz Mohamed (Thrack Movement – Ampang).Third place went to Team Primal Ape Strong from Primal Ape CrossFit.

The X45 Challenge was one of the highlights of the Sabah Fitness Festival. The five-event competition tested athletes in various aspects of fitness such as weightlifting, gymnastics and conditioning.This year, the X45 Challenge became the biggest functional fitness competition hosted in Malaysia with over 300 participants in the qualifier phase and over 200 contestants and volunteers during the competition weekend.Athletes competed in five fitness challenges over two days across five categories – Men's Open, Women's Open, Men's Scaled, Women's Scaled and Team Open.In the Men's Open category, Darren Chai from Hybrid Movement (Brunei) won first place followed by Odelon Simpao of CrossFit Greenhills (Manila), and Sabahan Zebadiah Mak from Jesselton CrossFit.

The returning top three from last year took the top three placings again in the Women's Open category with Bronwyn Clacher from District 13 (KL) who defended her title as champion, followed by Kristen Lim of Avant Garde CrossFit (Manila) in second place and Stephanie Liew of Hybrid Movement (Brunei) in third place. The Men's Scaled category top three placings were taken by Magnum Manuel Bakunawa of CFMNL Quezon Avenue (Manila), Sabahan Kingsley Tan of X45/CrossFit Kinabalu and Izzat Ismail of CrossFit 673 Jerudong (Brunei).

Women's Scaled category was topped by Marie Michelle Grace P. Del Rosario of CFMNL Quezon Avenue (Manila), Foo Mei Kuen from CrossFit Pahlawan (KL), and Alison Chew from PX5 (Sabah).Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

The X45 Challenge 2016 was organized by X45 Fitness and supported by the Youth and Sports Ministry and other sponsors.The other highlights during the Sabah Fitness Festival were the Sabah Open Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) and Submission Grappling Tournament, group fitness fiesta, fitness education courses and health and fitness exhibition.
