Ranhill gets power plant project in Sabah

Kuala Lumpur: Ranhill Holdings Bhd has obtained approval from the Energy Commission for the proposed development of a 300MW combined cycle gas turbine power plant in Sabah.In a filing to Bursa, Ranhill said it has a 50 per cent equity interest in the consortium of private companies that have submitted the power plant project to the Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water.

"The consortium is instructed to commence negotiations with Petronas and the company identified by the Government of Malaysia to develop the Trans-Sabah Gas Pipeline, to ascertain the terms and conditions of the gas supply required for the project.

"A letter of award will be issued by the Energy Commission after the terms of the gas supply agreement are determined," Ranhill said.

Ranhill Holdings' shares gained half a sen to 97.5 sen with 86,500 shares transacted as at 12.08 pm. – Bernama
