Food truck park sites in KK could be reality soon

Kota Kinabalu: A couple of food truck park sites in the city area could become a reality soon. Mayor Datuk Yeo Boon Hai had been approached over the matter recently and questions had been asked whether City Hall plans to set up such establishment here. This was done by Umno Kota Kinabalu Division Chief Datuk Faisyal Diego who believed the mobile business operations have a huge potential here, and might be a product for Sabah tourism.

"He (Yeo) felt that the Tanjung Aru Rugby field and the Likas Sports Complex can be the possible venues for the food truck park-off areas. "If this materialises, I want the local entrepreneurs to seize the opportunity to set up shop there," he said. Faisyal said this during the closing of the Entrepreneur Seminar 2016, organised by the divisional Umno Economic and Entrepreneur Bureau, here. He believed having food truck park-off sites can be a tourist attraction for the city and the spots where local entrepreneurs, especially the young, can benefit from the spin-off of Sabah's booming tourism industry.

Faisyal wants the younger generation especially to enter business and capitalise on the tourism industry when considering to set up shop. He assured the local economy would be able to support them despite a volatile global economy, saying he had come across many entrepreneurs averaging an income of RM3,000 a month despite the challenges.

Faisyal said the amount was more compared to some wage earners and all it required is hard work and a good marketing strategy. Some 170 participants, mostly women, took part in the half-day seminar where three speakers presented their papers covering topics, namely, investment, credit management, direct selling and multi-level marketing and beauty.
