KLANG: "I will go crazy if the loan sharks keep harassing me and my children. I beg them to stop and leave us alone."

Such were the cries of a 58-year-old single mother after she and her four children were harassed and intimidated for more than a year by loan sharks over her ex-husband's debts.

Goh, who is self-employed, said she divorced her husband of 30 years in June last year after she could no longer afford to pay his debts, which he had accumulated earlier.

"I know that my ex-husband owed four different Ah Long money, and I helped him two years ago to settle three loans amounting to RM107,500.

"Then, between August and November last year, I paid another Ah Long RM100 a day in interest.

"Yet there are other Ah Long who keep coming to our house and harassing us," she said at a press conference organised by Klang MCA Public Complaints and Services Bureau deputy chief Datuk Tan Bok Koon here Tuesday.

Goh said she believed her ex-husband had turned to loan sharks following financial problems in his business, but she had no idea exactly how much he had borrowed.

"Our life is never peaceful with the Ah Long harassing and intimidating us.

We were locked inside our home in July last year. They also splashed our home with red paint in February this year.

"When I told them that I am divorced and they should find my ex-husband instead, they snubbed me.

"My youngest son is sitting for his examination soon and all I want is for my children to live a normal life.

"I have nothing to do with my ex-husband anymore," she said, adding that two police reports have been lodged.

Tan said he will bring up Goh's case with police and push for them to take action against the Ah Longs and their runners if they continue harassing her.
