Kota Kinabalu: With only one match left in the Premier League this season, some of the current players may find themselves running out of time to impress the management for a new contract with Sabah Rhinos next season. The team will meet UiTM next Friday (October 21) here at the Likas Stadium and the final result will not have any effect on their ninth position in the league.

According to coach Johnny Dominicus, they are now looking at every possibility to strengthen the team next season including to retain some of the current players.

"After the last game against Kuantan FA on September 23, we had about a month to prepare our last game against UiTM on Oct 21.

"While we are making preparations, we are also identifying players who are to be maintained for next season," he said on Wednesday. It is likely that most local youngsters in the team may get the chance to play for the Rhinos next season.

"The average age of the team this season is 25 and under, and I also see some young players who had not had the opportunity to play in the first 11 have proven their ability in the couple of friendly matches held recently as well as in training.

"It is not impossible for the team to have a lot of young players and to be among the strong competitors in the league in the future.

"What we need is to add a bit of experience in the team, including taking quality foreign players and good local imports to strengthen certain positions," he said.
