Kota Kinabalu: Having transformed the nation's landscape with innovative infrastructure and developments for 40 years, Gamuda is eager to expand its wings to Sabah with bigger business collaborations.Gamuda Land General Manager (Marketing) Simon Phang Wah said the State has a lot of potentials, especially in Kota Kinabalu.

"Looking from the development perspective, Kota Kinabalu is the State capital and it has a lot of potentials.

"Furthermore, the Federal Government has been active in developing infrastructure like the Pan-Borneo Highway which will surely create a lot of spill-over effects.

"And that is why we take this opportunity to contribute to the economy of Sabah," he said during Gamuda's 40th anniversary celebration at its Bukit Bantayan development site, here, Saturday.

Phang disclosed Gamuda is keen on hooking up with more joint ventures to penetrate deeper into the development sector in the State.

"We are looking towards future expansion in Sabah and we want to concentrate on becoming a successful developer so that we can establish a strong foothold in the State."

Gamuda was established in 1976 and it is a public-listed company with three core businesses – engineering and construction, infrastructure concessions and property development.

The group also received an icing on the cake in conjunction with its 40th anniversary as Gamuda received the coveted Builder of the Year Award at the 2016 Malaysian Construction Industry Excellence Awards.

"The award by the Construction Industry Development Board which honours overall excellence in company performance and project implementation is testament to our diligence in embracing superior quality, workmanship and innovation in everything we do," said Phang.

Bukit Bantayan is Gamuda's maiden residential development in Sabah and has received a very encouraging response since its launch in April with about 80 per cent of the lots for non-Bumiputeras already taken up.

The development consists of 296 condominium units in its first phase with four different unit layouts.

The homes will come with a wide array of facilities and amenities.

According to Phang, the development's main focus is young families with about 60 per cent of the lots catered to the said group.

"And in conjunction with our 40th anniversary, we are promoting the Paling Menang Easy Payment Scheme V2.0.

"It is an improved version of the first version which was launched in April where the first version was '20-80' while the improved version is '10-90'…what we mean by 10-90 is buyers only have to pay 10 per cent of the payment and 90 per cent of the balance payment can be done upon completion.

"The 10 per cent deposit can also be paid in 24-month instalments. This is the first such scheme offered for residential development in Sabah. In fact, such schemes are also offered in most developed countries.

"We decided to bring the scheme here thanks to the feedback from our buyers and prospective buyers."

Phang also encouraged more bumiputeras to take advantage of the Paling Menang Easy Payment Scheme to own affordable homes with scenic surroundings.
