Kota Kinabalu: Counterfeiting is no longer limited to goods and cash. Fake City Hall parking coupons have also been found here. "Yes, they are fake (coupons) and we are in the process of identifying who printed and sold them," said City Hall Director-General Datuk Joannes Solidau in confirming this on Saturday.
Solidau was responding to a photo comparing the fake and genuine parking coupons that went viral on the social media.

A Netizen had claimed that the coupons were sold by the parking attendants.
However, Solidau said there is no escape for the drivers as the handheld devices supplied to attendants could still determine fake coupons.
The City Hall scratch and park coupon system was introduced on October 1, 2014 to replace the ticket parking system.
The local government has accumulated over RM6 million in uncollected parking rates involving 100,000 vehicles generated from the previous system.
