Kuala Lumpur: Police Monday recorded statements from five opposition leaders over the Bersih 5 rally here on Nov 19. Those summoned for questioning were former Umno leader Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah, PKR vice-president Dr Xavier Jayakumar, PKR Penanti assemblyman Dr Norlela Ariffin, Sekinchan assemblyman Ng Suee Lim and PKR Youth chief Afzainizam Abd Rahman.
The five arrived at the Travers police station at Jalan Travers here at about 9.50am today and entered the premises accompanied by two lawyers.
After about two hours, the five leaders were seen walking out of the premises. Saifuddin said the same questions were asked of all of them, including if they had attended the recent rally and whether they knew the purpose of the rally.
"However, we all chose not to answer. (We) will only answer in court," he told reporters after the session.
The five were questioned separately by different investigating officers.
Lawyer Saiful Izham Ramli said they are being investigated under the Sedition Act and the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012.
He said more leaders will be called in for questioning over the rally.
