Abused girl to undergo psych treatment

Alor Setar: The four-year-old girl who was subjected to physical abuse by the boyfriend of her mother is to undergo psychiatric treatment due to the trauma she had undergone, said Kedah Director of Health Datuk Norhizan Ismail. He said Thursday the girl had been placed under the care of a child psychiatrist and was responding positively to the rehabilitation process since her admission to the Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital in Sungai Petani on Nov 24. "She is able to open both her eyes which were swollen when she was brought to the hospital," he said.

He also said that an ENT specialist planned to subject the girl to a hearing test before she was discharged from hospital.
