Ministry launches 'End In Sipadan' diving campaign
Kota Kinabalu: The State Ministry of Tourism and Culture (Motac) Saturday launched the 'End In Sipadan' diving campaign to attract more local and foreign divers to explore top-notch diving destinations in the state. Its director, Ag Ahmad Zaki Abu Bakar said various activities throughout the campaign would be carried out till June next year, at several diving centres in Sabah, including Kudat, Sandakan, Lahad Datu, Kota Kinabalu and Semporna.

"In this campaign, we will conduct various programmes by exploring diving destinations, ending it at the main location in Sipadan, Semporna.

"Initially, we brought 20 divers, along with members of the media, for a diving session at Pulau Sapi.

"We hope the media can further promote the campaign," he told reporters after launching the campaign at Pulau Sapi near here.

He said other programmes carried out during the campaign would include inviting foreign media practitioners.

"Others activities such as planting shellfish and cleaning rubbish at diving centres will also be carried out.

As such, we hope this programme will achieve its objective in helping to promote the state as a world-class diving destination."

Ag Ahmad Zaki said the launch of the campaign was in line with the National Blue Ocean Strategy, as well as Motac's 'Voluntourism', in efforts to brand Sabah as the best domestic and international diving destination.

He said the campaign was also an initiative to reinforce Sipadan's image as among the top 10 diving destinations worldwide.
