Call for SUT Cup's inclusion in SGA's golfing calendar

Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Golf Association has been urged to include the SUT Cup golf tournament in their golfing calendar.Youth and Sports Ministry's Permanent Secretary Awang Damit Ag Anak, speaking at the West Coast leg of the SUT Cup golf tournament held at the Nexus Karambunai Resort recently, said the move will be of great help for the State to prepare an all winning team for Sukma 2028 where Sabah will be the hosts.

The tournaments initiated by Awang was sponsored by the Ministry and the main target is to unearth a pool of new talents throughout the State especially those 13 and below.

Awang also called on every club in Sabah to adopt a minimum of three boys and three girls in their junior programme.

The West Coast leg which was also the second of the series following the first leg held in Keningau earlier had attracted a total of 75 players.

The boys Under-16 category was won by Maxwin Chiew (80) followed by Mohd Taufiq (82) and Ira Daniel Kunhan (84).

The Under-13 title went to Ampuan Ikram Shah (74) with Derrick Kong (86) in second place and Dennis Quek (91) in third while the top three places in the Under-10 category went to Shawn Lam (42), Mohd Rafiq Anugerah (50) and Dylan (53).

In the girls categories, the Under-16 title went to Chiew I Youn (79) with Dayangku Nur Wafikah (87), Valerie Vanessa Langkap (88) in second and third place respectively.

Nabilah Alifuddin (88) took the Under-13 title followed by Yong Ke Ling (104) and Angelina Hwang (115).

The Under-10 title was won by Khadeeja Asyari (51), second place went to Shah Izzati Maisarah (60) while Nur Arysa Fazli Ang (71) was third.
