Ipoh: A father's love knows no bounds until the moment when he felt that he has done enough and decided to throw in the towel. That's what happened during the proceedings in the Sessions Court here Wednesday when a father refused to bail out his troubled son.

The court proceedings this morning turned chaotic when the accused, M. Henry Dass, was crying and screaming from the dock, begging his father to bail him out.

The 26-year-old accused, at one point even bowed at the edge of the dock as his father V. Maria Dass, 55, stood up to explain to the court the reasons why he refused to post bail.

Judge S. Indra Nehru postponed the proceedings temporarily to give time to both father and son to solve their problem.

After the proceedings resumed, the accused wept and begged his father to post RM3,000 bail, forcing the police to take him out of the court.

He was charged under Section 395 of the Penal Code which carries maximum 20 years imprisonment and whipping, if convicted, for a gang robbery in Buntong on June 8 about 12.30am.

Prosecution was conducted by Deputy Public Prosecutor Nor Hamizah Ghazali, while the accused was unrepresented.

Maria Dass told reporters that he refused to post bail because his son had never realised his mistakes and continued to commit crimes.

"I have spent more than RM20,000 to pay the fines for three or four cases he was involved in and those money I had to borrow from other people," he said. – Bernama
