A CONCERNED resident of Kampung Pulutan in Manggatal, is urging Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) to set a severely tilted power transmission pole in that village to an upright position as soon as possible. The latter who contacted Hotline on Jan 20, feared for the safety of the people residing in the premises where the pole has slanted about 70 degrees on its roof.

"I've been noticing the problem for more than a year now because I use the stretch next to it everyday," said TERRY, who deemed the matter crucial given the present rainy season that could weaken the base of the pole.

Apart from damaging the structure, he said the power supply to many houses in that village would be interrupted should the cable that the pole was supporting finally snapped.

"There's a high chance that the cable will snap," he added.

He hoped the utility firm concerned would expedite its effort to pull the pole to its original upright position.

"We don't want some exposed live wires to sprawl on the roadside if it snaps," he added.

A SESB spokesman assured that its staff at the technical section would be asked to verify the complaint promptly.

"Allow us to check on it first before taking the necessary repair on its concrete foundation," he added.

Hotline would follow up on the case again later. (OV)
